Jones praised as Gillard charged with father’s murder

Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has been charged with the murder of her father, John Gillard, three weeks after his mysterious death.

Crucial evidence was provided to police by radio commentator Alan Jones, who identified Ms. Gillard as John’s killer while speaking at the Sydney University Liberal Club President’s Dinner.

Although Jones did not speak directly to police, social media reports of Jones’ statements caught the attention of detectives working on the case.

It’s been an agonising 3 week wait for friends and family of Mr. Gillard. Speaking from Wales, Mr. Gillard’s family released a statement, thanking the efforts on social media in helping to find out what exactly happened to John.

Police had previously understood that Mr. Gillard’s death had been the result of illness, but it was not until Jones came forward that the illness could be identified as shame resulting from lies told by Ms. Gillard.

Police have thanked Mr. Jones and reminded everyone to be mindful of their statements on social media as it may negatively influence the trial. Fellow radio broadcaster Derryn Hinch has suggested he may ignore this request.
